> read(the_room) — RTR — is a real-time sentiment mapping platform.
Our mission is to capture, summarize, and display aggregated and anonymized responses to questions posed by members of our community.
RTR is a window into the shared ideas, trending themes, and hilarious memes across our world. As more people contribute, RTR could maybe evolve into a powerful tool for policymakers, shaping decisions across all organizational levels. But for now, it's more of a vibe check for humanity.
Our community is not yet a representative sample of society at large, so what you find on this site is #justdata from a fun social experiment.
In our hyper-connected world, the absence of a comprehensive, rapid, bioindicator for global human sentiment is a significant issue.
Many of us feel like our views are not fairly represented in conventional mass media or by our representatives.
Online, vast amounts of our data are being collected via algorithms that monetize our attention, yet this data is often hoarded by corporations driven by profit and not our well-being. It’s time for a change.
RTR aims to democratize our data by aggregating opt-in contributions from individuals like you, making the results transparent and accessible to all. By doing so, we can gain insight into our collective sentiments, enabling us to make more informed and equitable decisions that reflect the true context of our interconnected lives.
Our ethos is transparency, openness, and trust. Our promise to you is simple: we will only collect what is necessary to make the site work for you and nothing more. Here, you are to the best of our ability — and we don't have much ability yet — as anonymous as possible. Your data will not be used to track you across the internet; so be yourself!
