Privacy Policy

Read the Room respects your privacy. This policy explains how. We keep it simple and transparent.

What We Collect

We do not collect any personally identifying information such as your name, email address, or phone number. We only collect:

  • An anonymous device identifier provided by Apple or Google, or a UUID, uniquely for Read the Room.
  • A log of the questions you post and suggestions you make in the feedback forms.

We collect only what is absolutely required for the core functioning of the app, feature uptake analytics, or what is required by app store policies.

How We Use Your Data

Your anonymous device ID is used solely to:

  • Allow you to edit or delete your posted content.
  • Prevent repeat violations of our Terms of Service, limiting spam, abuse, and bots.

We do not associate your votes with your device ID.

We do not store your responses to any questions, or your response history, on our servers. All of that information is stored on your device.

You can delete individual items or clear all data from within the app’s Settings page.

Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not share your data with any third parties, including Apple or Google, except for PostHog – an open source analytics platform. PostHog is used to track app and feature usage anonymously with the sole purpose of improving the platform. We do not send personal metadata (like IP address) to any model providers. If personal information is entered into a question prompt, it may appear in an output, but it cannot be traced back to you.

Open Source

Read the Room is an open-source project. You can review the full source code, report issues, and contribute on our GitHub repository.

Children's Privacy

Read the Room is not intended for users under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the app.

Changes to This Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be announced in-app or on our website. The last update date will always be shown at the bottom of this page.
